Cataractes swap Dufour for Hamelin
Shawinigan, Que. – Cataractes GM Martin Mondou completed a transaction with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar Wednesday morning. Shawinigan sent forward Alexandre Dufour to the Drakkar in return for the services of blueliner Derek Hamelin.
Dufour had earned his position with the Cataractes during training camp. Born in Val-d’Or, he made 13 appearances this season and picked up an assist. On behalf of the entire organization of Cataractes, we wish you good luck in Baie-Comeau!
With regards to Derek Hamelin, he was a 12th round pick of the Drakkar at the 2014 QMJHL draft. However, Hamelin did not wish to play in the QMJHL, instead deciding to join the U18 Selects Hockey Academy where he is currently captain. Welcome to Shawinigan Derek!
