Boston Jr. Bruins Denisov, the wildcard of the QMJHL draft?
Could Mikhail Denisov be this year QMJHL draft wildcard? The russian born goalie spend the last two seasons playing in the USPHL with the Boston junior Bruins U16 team. Spending the past two season in Massachusetts, got him eligible for this year QMJHL draft, as an American player.
The Cataractes used the 36th pick of the second round, to select him in last week QMJHL draft. A surprise pick used after the Cataractes traded the 19th pick overall, for a pair of second round picks. Denisov original plan, was to stay in Russia and play in the MHL, the junior league in Russia. But since the draft he showed interest to come play in the QMJHL for the Cataractes.
Next season will also be is NHL draft year and playing in Shawingan can help him get the exposure needed to help him wear an NHL jersey at the 2016 NHL draft.
Denisov was selected this year USPHL goalie of the year, posting a 2,17 goal against average and a 926 save percentage.
Cataractes general manager Martin Mondou say he hope to have Denisov at camp in august and will discuss with is agent at the NHL draft, next week in Florida.
