Chicoutimi and Baie-Comeau knocks off Shawinigan
After a brillant performance against one of the top teams in the league, the Cataractes didn’t manage to extend their winning streak when they lost 4-2 to Chicoutimi and 6-0 to Baie-Comeau.
The Saguenéens get the upper hand
The first period of action was not even 1 minute old that Chicoutimi was taking the lead when Vincent Lapalme scored against Mikhail Denisov.
In the second period, Olivier Galipeau, the 20 year old veteran, scored from the point to make it 2-0. 5 minutes later, Samuel Asselin completed the play initiated by Vincent Senez and Cameron Askew and gently pushed the puck behind Alexis Shank. Sadly, before the end of the period, Zachary Lavigne added one for the local team and doubled Chicoutimi’s lead.
In the third, both teams added one more goal to their total. Vincent Milot beat Lucas Fitzpatrick who came in the game after the third goal by Chicoutimi. A few seconds later, Samuel Blier cut the lead with his 7th of the year. Asselin and Senez got the assists on the play.
Denisov faces 50 shots in a 6-0 loss
Needless to say that Shawinigan had a lot of trouble in this one. Baie-Comeau’s netminder, Justin Blanchette, faced 20 shots to get his first shutout in the Q.
On the other side of the rink, Mikhail Denisov faced 50 shots and, despite giving 6 goals, had a great performance.
For the Drakkar, 6 different players scored against Denisov : Joly, Martel, Gardiner, Demetris, Benoit and Tardif.
