CATARACTES SELECT DROZG AND ROGANOV IN CHL IMPORT DRAFT

SHAWINIGAN  – The Shawinigan Cataractes are proud to announce the additions of right-winger Jan Drozg and defenceman Danil Roganov in the last Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

Drozg, 18, was selected in the first round, 41 overall.

The native of Maribor, Slovenia, spent the last season with the Leksands IF Under-18 club where he posted nineteen goals and 49 points in 35 games.  He also totaled five goals and thirteen points in five games for his home country at the 2017  D1B Under-18 World Championships, winning “Best Forward” and “Top Player on Team” honors.

Listed at 6’0″ and 174 lbs., he was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fifth round, 152th overall, of the 2017 NHL Draft last weekend.

“Drozg is an offensive winger that handles the puck well  ,” said Cataractes General Manager Martin Mondou. “He has good offensive instincts and he will bring a lot of poise to our team.”

Roganov , 17, came to Shawinigan in the second round of the Import Draft, 113th overall.

The new Cataractes defencemen is 6’4” and 215 lbs. The product of Moscou, Russia, played the last season with the Moskva Dynamo U 17.

“Roganov is a big defenceman,” Mondou began. “He has good mobility for his size and will fit our  group’s age. We have young kids coming in next season and Roganov will have the same tools as the others to develop into a strong top 4 defencemen for our organisation.”
