Kevin Armstrong Named the CHL Player of the Week
Toronto – The Canadian Hockey League announced today that Saskatoon Blades goaltender Kevin Armstrong is the CHL Player of the Week.
Armstrong, 17, went 3-0-0 over the week with wins over Swift Current, Medicine Hat & Brandon. Armstrong posted a goals against average of 1.35 and a save percentage of .958 in the three victories. Saskatoon is currently in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Armstrong was earlier today named the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week and is eligible for the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Chad Painchaud of the Sarnia Sting was the OHL Player of the Week after scoring six goals and nine points in three games. James Sheppard of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles was the QMJHL’s Offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals and nine points in three games. Julien Ellis was the QMJHL’s Defensive Player of the Week after posting two wins with a 1.50 goals against average and a .958 save percentage.
