Evan Pighin of the Chilliwack Bruins named CHL Player of the Week
The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Evan Pighin of the Chilliwack Bruins is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday March 16 after scoring five goals and three assists for eight points in four games.
Pighin started the week with two goals and was the third star in a 5-4 loss to the Kelowna Rockets on Wednesday. He was the first star after scoring the winning goal and adding an assist in a 3-1 win over the Kamloops Blazers on Friday and again on Saturday after scoring two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist in a 5-1 win over the Everett Silvertips. He finished the week with an assist in a 5-3 loss to the Vancouver Giants on Sunday.
Pighin, a 19-year-old from Vancouver, BC, scored 22 goals and 26 assists for 48 points in 53 games this season with the Bruins.
Patrick Bernier of the Shawinigan Cataractes was the QMJHL nominee after scoring two goals and six points in two games last week and Ottawa 67’s goaltender Adam Courchaine was the OHL nominee after posting a 2-1-0-0 record with a 1.33 goals against average and .961 save percentage in three games.
