Chantal Pilon named General Director of the Event
Rimouski, QC – June 18, 2008 – The chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 2009 MasterCard Memorial Cup, Hugues St-Pierre, is pleased to announce the naming of Chantal Pilon to the position of General Director of the MasterCard Memorial Cup event, which is to be held May 15th through May 24th, 2009. Ms. Pilon will officially start work on August 4th, 2008.
Already active within the Rimouski nomination committee that worked to obtain the 2009 Memorial Cup, Ms. Pilon is well acquainted with the workings of the Organizing Committee, in addition to her wide experience in communications and event planning.
Hosting the MasterCard Memorial Cup event will require an enormous amount of logistical planning and the resources of a complex organizational structure. It is thus essential to have well-qualified staff in place. Ms. Pilon will be in charge of coordinating the activities of some 31 committees that will be under her supervision.
The members of the Organizing Committee of the Memorial Cup have full confidence in Ms. Pilon, as there is no doubt that she will meet the challenge brilliantly. “I accept this mandate with a great deal of enthusiasm and excitement, all the more so because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime challenge, considering the size of the event,” affirmed Ms. Pilon.
