Canadian Hockey League Awards 1040 Academic Scholarships
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Drayson Bowman of the Spokane Chiefs is the CHL Player of the Week after scoring six goals and two assists for eight points in three games.
Bowman started his week with a hat trick and added an assist and was the first star in a 4-1 win over the Prince George Cougars on Tuesday. He scored two goals and was the first star again in a 4-2 win over the Regina Pats on Friday and finished the week with the game-winning goal and an assist in a third star effort as the Chiefs downed the Cougars 5-1 on Saturday.
The 18-year-old native of Littleton, Colorado, has 18 goals and 16 assists for 34 points in 23 games this season. He was a third round pick by the Carolina Hurricanes in the NHL Entry Draft last June.
Alexandre Picard-Hooper of the Saint John Sea Dogs was the QMJHL nominee after scoring a goal and nine assists for 10 points in three road games and Sarnia Sting goaltender Tomi Karhunen was the OHL nominee after posting a 3-0-0-0 record along with a 1.33 goals against average, .953 save percentage and one shutout.
