Titan’s Reilly Pickard named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Reilly Pickard of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending October 23 after posting a 3-0-0-0 record with a goals-against-average of 1.67 and save percentage of .946.
Pickard stopped 88 of the 93 shots he faced last week between-the-pipes for the Titan who earned a trio of victories moving into sixth place in the overall league standings. His week included a pair of road victories in the Maritimes Division beginning Wednesday night earning first star honours in Saint John with 37 saves in a 3-1 win over the Sea Dogs, and Friday night in Moncton with 23 saves in a 4-1 win over the Wildcats. He finished his week with a 28-save performance earning second star honours in a 5-3 win over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.
An 18-year-old from Halifax, NS, Pickard is playing in his third QMJHL season and second full season with the Titan after being acquired in 2014-15 from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar where he was a second round pick in the 2014 QMJHL Entry Draft. So far this season Pickard carries a 7-3-1-1 record with a goals-against-average of 2.96 and save percentage of .906.
Also considered for the award this week was Michael Herringer of the Kelowna Rockets who posted a 3-0-0-0 record with a goals-against-average of 1.99 and save percentage of .924, and 2017 NHL Draft prospect Michael DiPietro of the Windsor Spitfires who went 1-1-0-0 with a shutout victory posting a goals-against-average of 1.01 and save percentage of .967.
