CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada has announced the addition of forward Connor McMichael (London Knights) to the roster for Canada’s National Junior Team Sport Chek Summer Development Camp, July 27 to Aug. 3 in Plymouth, Mich.

McMichael, a 2019 first-round NHL draft pick of the Washington Capitals, recorded 36 goals and 36 assists in 67 games with the London Knights last season, and added two goals and three assists in 11 playoff games. He also suited up for Team Canada White at the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, where he registered one goal and three assists.

Hockey Canada also announced forwards and 2019 first-round NHL draft picks Dylan Cozens (Lethbridge Hurricanes) and Peyton Krebs (Winnipeg ICE) are unable to participate due to injury.

Canadian players will be split into two teams – Red and White – and will play four games in Plymouth, taking on the United States twice in addition to singles against Finland and Sweden.

Canada will look to bring home a gold medal at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship, set for Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Trinec and Ostrava, Czech Republic. Since 1977, Canada has won gold at the IIHF World Junior Championship 17 times, and collected nine silver medals and five bronze.
