CHL Today: Mooseheads remain perfect with fourth straight win

Headlines
- The Halifax Mooseheads remain the only perfect team left in the QMJHL after they won their fourth straight Sunday courtesy of a 4-1 road win against Moncton. Full story
- Saint John’s Eriks Mateiko (WSH) and Rimouski’s Spencer Gill (PHI) both signed their entry-level contracts earlier this week. Full story.
CHL Top 10
- A 4-1 defeat to Halifax meant the Moncton Wildcats (4) suffered its first regulation loss of the campaign. The Wildcats are 2-1-1 early on this season.
- A 6-3 loss to Blainville-Boisbriand saw the Rimouski Oceanic (5) beaten for the third time in four contests to start the season.
- The Cape Breton Eagles (6) fell 2-1 to Saint John in a shootout to register their first point of the season. The Eagles have struggled out of the gate with an 0-3-1 record.
- The Oshawa Generals (8) collected a point in a 4-3 OT loss to Ottawa. The Gens are 1-1-1 after Opening Week.
- The Kelowna Rockets (10) dropped to 0-3-0 after they were doubled up 6-3 by Everett.
NHL Prospect Watch
- Andrei Loshko (SEA) had his second straight multi-point game to start the season as he tallied three points (1G, 2A) as Niagara won 5-2 in Kingston. Loshko seems to have adjusted well to life in the OHL with five points (two goals) in two contests.
- Kevin He (WPG) scored twice for the IceDogs, who are now 2-0-0, in their win over the Fronts. He’s three goals are tied for the third most in the OHL this season.
- Cooper Foster (PIT) scored twice, that included the overtime winner, as Ottawa beat Oshawa 4-3 for their first win of the season.
- Carson Wetsch’s (SJ) first goal of the season stood as the game-winner as Calgary beat Lethbridge 3-1 to record their first win of the campaign.
Nightly notes
- Quebec’s Benjamin Vigneault (2G, 3A) and Justin Cotê (5A) each had five points in a dominant 9-1 victory over Victoriaville. Cotê’s 12 points are tied for the QMJHL scoring lead through just four games.
- Rookie Yoan Tassé had four points (2G, 2A) as Drummondville defeated Val-d’Or 7-1. Tassé was a fourth round pick by the Volts in the 2023 QMJHL Draft.
- Nicolas Ruccia stopped all 25 shots he faced to register his first shutout as a member of the Islanders as Charlottetown beat Acadie-Bathurst 2-0. It was the ninth shutout of Ruccia’s QMJHL career.
- Carter Bear (2025) had three points (1G, 2A) in Everett’s 6-3 win over Kelowna. A year ago, Bear had 25 goals and 57 points.
