2026 QMJHL Championship Series updates
Game 6 (May 17) — Chicoutimi 5-1 Moncton
Chicoutimi wins series 4-2
For the first time in 32 years, Chicoutimi are QMJHL champions after they took Game 6 over Moncton.
Alexis Toussaint, Liam Lefebvre, Emmanuel Vermette, Christophe Berthelot and Mavrick Lachance all had goals for the Sags as Lucas Beckman (OTT) made 23 saves. Caleb Desnoyers (UTA) had the Wildcats lone goal as Rudy Guimond turned away 23 shots too.
Moncton’s Gabe Smith (UTA) was named QMJHL MVP’s in a losing cause after he led the postseason with 33 points.
The Sags will now head to Kelowna to take part in the 2026 Memorial Cup presented by Kubota.

Game 5 (May 15) — Chicoutimi 6-4 Moncton
Chicoutimi leads series 3-2
The Sags erased a 4-0 deficit to stun Moncton in a 7-6 Game 5 win that takes them one win away from a QMJHL championship.
Peteris Bulans had a hat-trick while Nathan Lecompte, Liam Lefebvre, Mavrick Lachance and Maxim Schafer (WSH) also scored. Lucas Beckman (OTT) made 19 saves.
Moncton had goals from Teddy Mutryn, Rian Chudzinski, Gabe Smith (UTA) and Nike Tournas as they built a 4-0 lead midway through the second period.
Lecompte got the Sagueneens on the board before the end of the second before his teammates scored five unanswered. Gavin Cornforth cut the Chicoutimi lead to 6-5 before Bulans completed his hat-trick with an empty-netter yet Kuzma Voronin made it 7-6 with 36.1 seconds left in regulation. Rudy Guimond (DET) stopped 28 shots in the Wildcats net.

Game 4 (May 13) — Moncton 4-3 Chicoutimi
Series tied 2-2
Moncton erased a 3-1 deficit to take Game 4 and level the QMJHL Finals at 2-2 against Chicoutimi.
Gabe Smith (UTA) had three points (2G / 1A) for the Wildcats while Evan Depatie and Rian Chudzinski also scored as Rudy Guimond (DET) made 22 saves.
The Sags had goals from Nathan Lecompte, Peteris Bulans and captain Emmanuel Vermette while Lucas Beckman (OTT) turned away 32 shots.
Chudzinski’s goal at 14:15 of the third stood as the game-winner as the defending champs made it a best-of-3 series.

Game 3 (May 12) — Chicoutimi 5-4 Moncton (OT)
Sagueneens leads series 2-1
Thomas Desruisseaux scored the game-winner at 16:58 overtime as the Sagueneens took a 2-1 series lead thanks to a 5-4 overtime win over Moncton.
Jordan Tourigny scored twice while Emile Guite (ANA) and Christophe Berthelot also found the back of the net for the Sags as Lucas Beckman (OTT) made 37 saves. Moncton had two goals from Teddy Mutryn (SJ), Simon Binkley and Max Vilen also scored and Rudy Guimond (DET) stopped 35 shots.
The Wildcats had forced overtime with just 24.1 seconds left in regulation after Mutryn’s dump-in from the blue line found its way past Beckman. But the Sags’ blushes were spared thanks to Desruisseaux whose goal initially wasn’t given before a review determined the puck had crossed the line.

Game 2 (May 9) — Chicoutimi 3-2 Moncton
Series tied 1-1
Liam Lefebvre scored the game-winner with 3:08 to play as Chicoutimi took Game 2 in Moncton to level the QMJHL finals at 1-1.
Jordan Tourigny and Alexis Bernier (SEA) also scored for the Sags while Lucas Beckman (OTT) made 23 saves. The Wildcats had goals from Niko Tournas and Evan Depatie as Rudy Guimond (DET) turned away 17 shots.
Lefebvre – the 38th ranked North American skater for the 2026 NHL Draft – ripped a one-timer at 16:52 for his third of the postseason to give the Sags their first QMJHL finals win in 32 years.
Game 1 (May 8) — Moncton 5-2 Chicoutimi
Wildcats leads series 1-0
Caleb Desnoyers (UTA) had three points as the defending QMJHL champions Moncton took Game 1 4-2 over Chicoutimi.
Desnoyers had a goal and two assists while Gabe Smith (UTA) had a pair of goals. Niko Tournas, and Preston Lounsbury also scored as Rudy Guimond (DET) made 26 saves in the Wildcats goal.
Chicoutimi had goals from Mavrick Lachance and Christophe Berthelot while Lucas Beckman (OTT) stopped 31 shots.
The Wildcats scored three times in the first period and led 3-1 through 20 minutes before Lounsbury and Smith’s second of the night were scored into the empty-net.
