110 CHL past season grads advance to U SPORTS in 2019-20

 

A total of 110 players who competed in the Canadian Hockey League last season have become U SPORTS freshmen in 2019-20.

The group includes 39 graduates from the Western Hockey League, 32 from the Ontario Hockey League, and 39 from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, with 54 of 60 CHL clubs producing at least one player who has moved on to U SPORTS.

The Cape Breton Eagles lead the way with four players, followed by seven QMJHL clubs with three each, counting the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, Charlottetown Islanders, Chicoutimi Sagueneens, Halifax Mooseheads, Quebec Remparts, and Saint John Sea Dogs.

Five WHL clubs are represented with three players, including the Calgary Hitmen, Prince George Cougars, Regina Pats, Seattle Thunderbirds, and Tri-City Americans, while five OHL clubs also produced three players, counting the Guelph Storm, Kitchener Rangers, Oshawa Generals, Peterborough Petes, and Sudbury Wolves.

The list of players are represented across 32 schools, counting nine attending the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivieres as well as the University of Alberta, eight at Concordia University, seven to the University of Guelph, and six to Carleton University and Queen’s University.
