Toronto - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Marc-Andre Cliche of the Lewiston MAINEiacs is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 8, 2007. Cliche scored two goals and five assists for seven points in two second-round playoff games.
On Friday, April 6th, Cliche scored one goal and three assists for four points leading the MAINEiacs to an 8-4 victory in game one of their second-round playoff tilt versus the Halifax Mooseheads. The following night, Cliche scored one goal and two assists for three points. The MAINEiacs prevailed 4-1 while taking a 2-0 series lead. This game marked the 16th consecutive win for the MAINEiacs. Cliche, captain of the Lewiston MAINEiacs, received the 2nd star in both playoff victories.
The 20-year-old native of Rouyn-Noranda Quebec was drafted in the 2nd round by the New York Rangers in 2005.
Eric Tangradi of the Belleville Bulls was the OHL nominee after he scored three goals and three assists for six points in two playoff games.
