Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Scott Glennie of the Brandon Wheat Kings is the Boston Pizza CHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 23. Glennie scored six goals and two assists for eight points with a plus-minus rating of plus-2 in three games helping the Wheat Kings to a 2-0-0-1 record.
Glennie began his week on Tuesday when the Wheat Kings hosted the Spokane Chiefs. He scored two goals and was named the first star of the game in the 4-1 victory. On Friday night he scored one goal and two assists in a high scoring game that resulted in a 7-6 shootout victory in favour of the Kootenay Ice. Glennie finished the week strong as the first star of the game Saturday night after netting his second career WHL hat-trick including the overtime winner in a 5-4 win on the road against the Saskatoon Blades.
Glennie, a 17-year-old from Winnipeg, MB is in his second WHL season with the Wheat Kings. In 25 games this season, Glennie leads the Brandon Wheat Kings in scoring with 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points. He is eligible for the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and was recently ranked fourth among WHL skaters by NHL Central Scouting.
Eric Tangradi of the Belleville Bulls represents the OHL nominee for the award for scoring four goals and five assists for nine points in three games. Tangradi was first star on Wednesday when he had a five-point night in an 8-1 win over the Niagara IceDogs. Michael Kirkpatrick of the Saint John Sea Dogs is the QMJHL nominee for scoring four goals, including two shorthanded, and one assist for five points in two games. Kirkpatrick had a four-point night in a 6-5 shootout win over the Moncton Wildcats on Saturday.
