Smith-Pelly and Ross Added to Team Cherry for 2010 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced two more roster changes for the 2010 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game including the addition of forwards Devante Smith-Pelly of the OHL’s Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors and Brad Ross of the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks. Both players will join Team Cherry when the puck drops January 19-20 at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, ON.

Smith-Pelly and Ross replace Ivan Telegin of the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit and Curtis Hamilton of the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades who are both unable to compete due to injury.

Smith-Pelly, a 17-year-old from Scarborough, ON, is second on the Majors in scoring with 22 goals and 18 assists for 40 points in 35 games. Ranked 67th by NHL Central Scouting, Smith-Pelly has an impressive plus-minus rating of plus-20. Ross, a 17-year-old from Lethbridge, AB, is currently tied for the Winterhawks’ lead in scoring with 22 goals and 27 assists for 49 points in 45 games and leads the club with a plus-minus rating of plus-18 with 121 penalty minutes. Ranked 69th by NHL Central Scouting, Ross joins three other members of the Winterhawks hockey club in this game.

Home Hardware continues as the title sponsor of the Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game for the eleventh straight year. Associate sponsors include Bank of Montreal, Subway, and NeilMed. The game will be broadcast nationally live on Rogers Sportsnet and RDS.
