Royals’ Coleman Vollrath named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Coleman Vollrath of the Victoria Royals is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending March 15 after posting a 3-0-0-0 record including two shutout victories with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .970.
Vollrath made 97 saves in three victories between the pipes for the Royals who hold second place in the WHL’s B.C Division. He began his week last Wednesday with a season-high 44-save performance earning first star honours in a 6-3 victory over the first place Kelowna Rockets. The Royals then faced the Vancouver Giants in a weekend home-and-home series where Vollrath posted back-to-back shutouts. He made 25 saves on Friday night in the 2-0 road win earning second star honours, followed by a first star performance on Saturday with 28 saves in the 3-0 victory setting a franchise record with his sixth shutout of the season.
Vollrath, a 20-year-old from Calgary, AB, is playing in his third WHL season with the Royals. He currently carries a 28-14-3-1 record with a goals-against-average of 2.97 and save percentage of .905.
Also considered for the award this week was Devin Williams of the Erie Otters who went 3-0-0-0 with one shutout posting a goals-against-average of 0.67 and save percentage of .975, and Julio Billia of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens who went 1-0-0-1 with a shutout victory posting a goals-against-average of 1.44 and save percentage of .948.
