Rockets’ Jackson Whistle named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Jackson Whistle of the Kelowna Rockets is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending October 26 after posting a 2-0-0-0 record with a shutout victory for a goals-against-average of 0.50 and save percentage of .981.
Whistle made 53 saves in two games for the WHL’s top ranked Rockets who improved their record to 12-1-0-0. Whistle earned his second shutout of the season last Wednesday night stopping all 22 shots he faced as third star of a 4-0 win over the visiting Tri-City Americans. He then earned first star honours on Saturday with 31 saves as part of a 6-1 win over the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings.
Whistle, a 19-year-old from West Kelowna, BC, is playing in his fourth WHL season and third with the Rockets. So far this season he carries an 11-1-0-0 record with a goals-against-average of 2.26 and save percentage of .916 with two shutouts.
Also considered for the award this week was Carolina Hurricanes prospect Alex Nedeljkovic of the Plymouth Whalers with a 2-1-0-0 record and a pair of shutout victories posting a goals-against-average of 1.34 and save percentage of .948. In the QMJHL, Marvin Cupper of the Shawinigan Cataractes won both of his starts with a goals-against-average of 1.92 and save percentage of .926.
