Remparts’ Unveil Commemorative Jerseys Available in Online Auction
Friday May 22, 2015
Quebec, QC – The Canadian Hockey League in association with the Quebec Remparts Hockey Club unveiled today the specially designed commemorative jerseys to be worn by the Remparts in the opening game of the 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup against the Kelowna Rockets on Friday May 22.
The jerseys will be available for online auction at auction.chl.ca beginning Friday May 22 at 8:00 pm closing Monday June 1 at 8:00 pm Eastern.
The opening game jerseys were designed by the Quebec Remparts in conjunction with the CHL. The jersey pays tribute to the military by depicting individuals from all three military services through the front crest. This image is inspired by the National War Memorial which was originally designed to commemorate Canadians who died in World War I, but now honours all of Canada’s war dead. The sweater design itself pays tribute to the first ever sweater design worn by the Remparts in the Colisee. The 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup will be the last major hockey event to ever take place at this historic arena.
Proceeds from the auction will go towards supporting veterans in Quebec. The MasterCard Memorial Cup Theme Jersey Program was created in 2008 and has cumulatively generated over $120,000 for Veterans.
The Memorial Cup was donated in 1919 by the Ontario Hockey Association as a memorial to those young men and women who had been given their lives in the defence of Canada during World War I. The 2015 edition of the championship in Quebec marks the 97th time this prestigious trophy will be presented.
The 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup is proudly supported by MasterCard, title sponsor of this event for 17 straight years. Associate sponsors include BMO Bank of Montreal, SUBWAY, Cooper Tires, and autoTRADER.ca.
