Otters’ Oscar Dansk named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Oscar Dansk of the Erie Otters is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 8 with a 2-0-0-0 record including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .968.
Dansk made 61 saves in a pair of road victories for the Otters who are the CHL’s top ranked team with a 26-4-1-0 record including seven straight wins. On Friday night he earned first star honours posting his OHL-best fourth shutout of the season making 32 saves in a 2-0 win over the Ottawa 67’s, then made 29 saves on Sunday as part of a 7-2 win over the Kingston Frontenacs.
Dansk, a 19-year-old from Stockholm, Sweden, is playing in his second OHL season with the Otters and was recently named to Sweden’s Selection Camp Roster for the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship. Selected by the Blue Jackets in the second round of the 2012 NHL Draft, Dansk leads the OHL with a 2.24 goals-against-average also carrying a .917 save percentage with a record of 14-3-1-0 this season.
Also considered for the award this week was past winner Jordon Cooke of the Kelowna Rockets with a 2-0-0-0 record including a 1.96 goals-against-average and a .932 save percentage, and Montreal Canadiens prospect Zachary Fucale of the Halifax Mooseheads with a 2-0-0-1 record including a 1.62 goals-against-average and a .923 save percentage.
