Otters’ Dylan Strome named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that 2015 NHL Draft prospect Dylan Strome of the Erie Otters is the CHL Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season ending March 22 with six goals and six assists for 12 points in three games with a plus-minus rating of plus-8.
Strome finished the 2014-15 campaign tied with Conor Garland of the Moncton Wildcats for the CHL scoring lead with 129 points while helping the Otters win 50 games for the second straight year. Strome overtook Mitchell Marner of the London Knights for the OHL’s scoring lead during his final game on Sunday afternoon with a career-high six-point performance scoring four goals and two assists as first star of an 8-7 win over the Niagara IceDogs. His week also included a goal and an assist on Saturday as third star of a 5-1 win over the Plymouth Whalers, and a four-point effort on Thursday where he was named first star with a goal and three assists in a 7-4 win over the Windsor Spitfires.
Strome, an 18-year-old from Mississauga, ON, is playing in his second OHL season with the Otters. Listed fifth overall among North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting’s Midterm Rankings, Strome scored 45 goals and 84 assists in 68 games this season setting a new Otters franchise record.
Also considered for the award this week was fellow 2015 NHL Draft prospect Jake DeBrusk who scored four goals and four assists for eight points in three games helping the Swift Current Broncos clinch a WHL playoff position, while Ross Johnston of the Charlottetown Islanders scored three goals and three assists for six points in two games.
