Olympiques’ Nicolas Lachance named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Nicolas Lachance of the Gatineau Olympiques is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week after posting a 2-0-0-0 record including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 0.52 and save percentage of .982 for the week ending March 1.
Lachance stopped 54 of 55 shots faced last week helping the Olympiques earn a pair of road wins moving to 15th overall in the QMJHL standings. On Friday night Lachance entered the game in relief with his team trailing 2-0 just four minutes into the opening period against the Moncton Wildcats, then stood tall in goal making 25 saves as the Olympiques battled back to upend one of the league’s top teams by a 7-3 score. On Sunday he recorded his first career shutout with a 29-save performance in a 2-0 victory over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
Lachance, a 19-year-old from Trois-Rivieres, QC, is playing in his first QMJHL season with the Olympiques. In 25 appearance this season he carries a record of 10-11-0-1 with a goals-against-average of 3.24 and save percentage of .887.
Also considered for the award this week was Garret Hughson of the Spokane Chiefs who went 3-0-0-0 posting a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 0.67 and save percentage of .973, and rookie Leo Lazarev of the Ottawa 67’s who went 1-1-0-0 with a shutout victory along with a goals-against-average of 1.01 and save percentage of .966.
