OHL Announces Honourary Captains for ADT Canada Russia Challenge
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League in association with the Ontario Hockey League today announced the honourary captains for the OHL games of the 2008 ADT Canada Russia Challenge.

Paul Henderson is the honourary captain for the game in Guelph, ON November 20 and Marcel Dionne will serve as honourary captain for the game in St. Catharines, ON November 24.

Paul Henderson of Kincardine, ON competed for Team Canada in the 1972 Summit Series where he would score one of the most famous goals in Canadian hockey history. His goal in the dying seconds of the eighth and final Summit Series game lifted Canada past the Soviet Union team for the series win. Henderson played 13 seasons in the National Hockey League beginning his career with the Detroit Red Wings in 1962. Henderson would play four full seasons with the Red Wings before a trade brought him to the Toronto Maple Leafs where he would play until 1974. His NHL career would conclude in Atlanta with the Flames in 1980 giving him 707 career games played where he produced 236 goals and 241 assists for 477 points.

Marcel Dionne of Drummondville, QC was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992. His NHL career included 1348 games played over 18 seasons beginning in 1971 with the Detroit Red Wings. Dionne would play four seasons in Detroit, 12 with the Los Angeles Kings, and his final two with the New York Rangers ending in 1989. He scored 731 goals and 1040 assists for 1771 points which ranks him fifth in all-time NHL scoring. He is a two time Lady Byng Trophy winner and won the Lester B. Pearson Award in both the 1978-79 and 1979-80 seasons. He won the Art Ross Trophy in 1979-80 with a career best 137 point season. He has represented Canada on international ice in seven different events.

Dionne, who currently resides in the Niagara region, played in the Ontario Hockey Association for the St. Catharines Black Hawks for three seasons beginning in 1968. He recorded 154 goals and 221 assists for 375 points in 148 games, twice winning the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy as the OHA top scorer.

The 2008 ADT Canada Russia Challenge features a team of CHL All-Stars representing each regional league that will compete against the Russian National Junior team. All six games will be broadcasted nationally on Rogers Sportsnet, with the two QMJHL games also broadcasted on RDS.
