Huskies’ Samuel Harvey named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Samuel Harvey of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the third week of playoff action ending April 7 with a 3-0 record, including one shutout, a goals-against average of 1.00, and save percentage of .952.
Harvey claims the honour for the first time this year after turning aside 59 shots over three QMJHL playoff contests, including a Game 6 clincher against the Shawinigan Cataractes in the quarter-final, and the latter two games versus the Victoriaville Tigres. Against the Cataractes, Harvey came up with 18 saves in an 8-2 win to help the first-place Huskies advance to the second round. He then opened the next series against the Tigres with a 23-save shutout and a 4-0 victory. The Huskies hold a 2-0 lead in the series following Saturday’s 3-1 win in which Harvey turned aside 20 shots.
A native of Alma, Que., the 21-year-old is in his fifth season with Rouyn-Noranda. Through 45 games this year, he posted a 35-8-0-0 record with a 2.08 goals-against average and .926 save percentage. Through eight postseason appearances, Harvey owns a 6-2 record alongside a 1.54 goals-against average and .929 save percentage.
Also considered for the award this week was Arizona Coyotes prospect Ivan Prosvetov of the Saginaw Spirit, who came away with two wins in which he posted a 1.00 goals-against average and .974 save rate to lift his team to a 2-0 series lead over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. In the WHL, Edmonton Oil Kings netminder Dylan Myskiw won both of his appearances versus the Calgary Hitmen as he claimed a goals-against average of 1.48 and a save percentage of .939.
