Hall and Seguin Named Team Captains for 2010 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Taylor Hall of the Windsor Spitfires will serve as Captain for Team Cherry with Tyler Seguin of the Plymouth Whalers to serve as Captain for Team Orr at the 2010 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game January 19-20 at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, ON.

Hall and Seguin are ranked first and second respectively by NHL Central Scouting in their midterm rankings and both are currently tied for the OHL-lead in scoring, each with 68 points including 29 goals and 39 assists.  Hall, an 18-year-old from Kingston, ON, played for Team Canada at the 2010 World Junior Championships in Saskatoon and Regina, SK, finishing tied for second in team scoring with 12 points in six games.  Seguin, a 17-year-old from Brampton, ON, has scored four hat-tricks this season for the Whalers and was listed as the OHL’s top skater in NHL Central Scouting’s preliminary rankings released back in November.  Both players skated for Team OHL at the 2009 SUBWAY Super Series.

The Alternate Captains for the home Team Cherry will be forward Jakub Culek of the QMJHL’s Rimouski Oceanic, and defenceman Alexander Petrovic of the WHL’s Red Deer Rebels.  Culek, a 17-year-old native of the Czech Republic has 39 points in 42 games so far this season.  Petrovic, a 17-year-old from Edmonton, AB, stands tall at 6’4’’ and has 15 points in 30 games so far this season.

For Team Orr, the Alternate Captains will be defencemen Brandon Gormley of the QMJHL’s Moncton Wildcats and Mark Pysyk of the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings.  Gormley, a 17-year-old from Murray River, PE, is the QMJHL’s top ranked skater listed at eighth overall by NHL Central Scouting, one ahead of Pysyk, an 18-year-old from Sherwood Park, AB, who is the highest ranked defender from the WHL.  Both Gormley and Pysyk represented their leagues at the 2009 SUBWAY Super Series.

The game will be broadcast nationally live on Rogers Sportsnet and RDS beginning at 7:00 pm Eastern time on Wednesday January 20, 2010.
