Scarborough, ON – The Canadian Hockey League is the largest development hockey league in the world with 60 teams in nine Canadian provinces and five American states. The CHL is made up of the Ontario Hockey League, Western Hockey League and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and during the 2007/08 season, welcomed more than nine million fans into its buildings.
The Canadian Hockey League is inviting applications for the position of Manager, Media & Information Services.
Main Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)
CHL Special Events
r
• Central point for media enquires through the year
r
• Ensure media information is consistent and available for all events for media / NHL Scouts
• Host press conferences / manage all on-site media requirements
Newsletter
• Produce stories and ensure CHL portion of newsletter is completed on weekly basis
TV Broadcast Services
• Liaise with regional leagues for broadcast requirements for Rogers Sportsnet and RDS
• Provide bios for all CHL telecasts on Rogers Sportsnet / RDS and Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts as required
Publications
• Liaise with Prospects Magazine to ensure content is accurate and relevant
• Address Prospects magazine requirements
• Create Publications as required
CHL Web Site
• Manage content on chl.ca
• Compose event previews and reviews
• Create and issue CHL media releases / stories
• Coordinate and issue CHL Top 10, Player/Goaltender of Week
• Liaise with content writing pool
Qualifications and Experience
– Post secondary diploma or degree in Sport Management or related discipline
– Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office are essential
– Strong leadership, financial management and organizational skills
– Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
– Excellent writing and communication skills
– Being Bilingual in English and French is considered an asset
