Drakkar’s Philippe Cadorette named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Philippe Cadorette of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the playoff week ending April 12 after posting a 2-0-0-0 record with a goals-against-average of 1.28 and save percentage of .970.
Cadorette made 96 saves in two road games for the seventh place Drakkar who opened the QMJHL Quarter-Finals with a pair of victories against the defending champion and sixth place Val-d’Or Foreurs. On Friday night he stopped a career-high 61 shots and was named first star of a 3-2 double overtime victory in Game 1, then made 35 saves on Saturday as second star of a 9-1 win in Game 2. The series continue with Game 3 tonight followed by Game 4 Wednesday in Baie-Comeau.
Cadorette, a 20-year-old from St-Hyacinthe, QC, is playing in his fourth QMJHL season with the Drakkar. Earlier this season he set a QMJHL record with his 16th career shutout and currently carries a 2.32 goals-against-average and a .929 save percentage in seven playoff games.
Also considered for the award was previous playoff winner Jackson Whistle of the Kelowna Rockets with a 2-0-0-0 record including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 1.49 and save percentage of .951 against the Victoria Royals. In the OHL, top prospect Mackenzie Blackwood of the Barrie Colts posted a 1-1-0-0 record against the North Bay Battalion with a goals-against-average of 2.53 and save percentage of .929.
