Drakkar’s Philippe Cadorette named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Philippe Cadorette of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending October 19 after posting a 3-0-0-0 record including two shutouts with a goals-against-average of 0.65 and save percentage of .980.
Cadorette made 99 saves last week helping the Drakkar win three games to extend their winning-streak to five and lifting them to second place in the QMJHL’s East Division with 19 points. On Thursday night he stopped all 18 shots he faced in a 4-0 win over the Quebec Remparts, then on Friday night picked up his second straight shutout and third of the season with a 41-save performance as first star of a 3-0 win over the Rimouski Oceanic. Cadorette turned in another first star performance on Sunday against the QMJHL’s top ranked team with 40 saves in a 3-2 shootout win over the Oceanic.
Cadorette, a 19-year-old from St-Hyacinthe, QC, is playing in his fourth QMJHL season with the Drakkar. So far this season he carries a 9-2-0-1 record with a goals-against-average of 2.45 and save percentage of .921 which is tied for best in the league. His 13 career QMJHL shutouts are two behind the record of 15 held by Ryan Mior.
Also considered for the award this week was Payton Lee of the Vancouver Giants who posted a 2-0-0-0 record with one shutout and a goals-against-average of 0.50 and save percentage of .980. In the OHL, Ken Appleby of the Oshawa Generals who went 4-0-0-0 with one shutout victory posting a goals-against-average of 1.75 and a save percentage of .924.
