CHL Playoff Notebook: March 29, 2019
A busy night on the playoff calendar saw a pair of teams eliminated from both the OHL and QMJHL:
Ontario Hockey League
The Niagara IceDogs are off to the semi-final after icing the North Bay Battalion by a 4-0 score in which netminder Stephen Dhillon turned aside 27 shots for his third shutout in five games.

Jaden Peca‘s three-point night powered the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds to a 7-4 win and a five-game elimination of the Owen Sound Attack.
Quebec Major Junior Hockey League
A two-point outing by right-wing Bobby Dow helped lift the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada to a 4-1 final over the Sherbrooke Phoenix to seal the series in five games.
The Gatineau Olympiques were handed a five-game exit following a 6-1 defeat to the Drummondville Voltigeurs in which a three-point night by Detroit Red Wings first rounder Joseph Veleno pushed the pace for the opposition.
The first-place Rouyn-Noranda Huskies pushed the Shawinigan Cataractes to the brink of elimination following a 7-3 decision in Game 5 that saw Jean Beliveau Trophy recipient Peter Abbandonato come away with four helpers.

The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles claimed their third-straight victory over the Charlottetown Islanders with a 4-3 win in which 2019 NHL Draft hopeful Nikita Alexandrov tallied twice for the winning side.
Chalk up three consecutive home victories for the Val’d-Or Foreurs, who have taken a 3-2 series lead versus the Victoriaville Tigres following a tight 2-1 decision in Game 5 in which right-wing Nicolas Ouellet potted the eventual game winner late in the middle frame.
The Baie-Comeau Drakkar have the Moncton Wildcats on the ropes following a 5-2 decision in Game 5 that saw San Jose Sharks prospect Ivan Chekhovich come away with two goals.
Western Hockey League
The Edmonton Oil Kings carry a 3-2 series advantage over the Medicine Hat Tigers thanks to a 5-4 outcome in Game 5 that saw captain Trey Fix-Wolansky lead the way with a pair of goals.
The Vancouver Giants will now go for the knockout versus the Seattle Thunderbirds following a 3-2 decision in Game 5 in which defenceman Dallas Hines netted the game winner in the opening minutes of the third period.
