30 CHL GRADS ATTEND NHL ALL-STAR WEEKEND
The highest scoring NHL All-Star Game ever featured 27 former CHL players as John Tavares’ (Oshawa/London) four goal effort fueled Team Toews to a 17-12 victory in Columbus. Patrice Bergeron (Acadie-Bathurst) had a five point night with a goal and four helpers as the 2015 NHL All-Star Game surpassed the 26 goal mark set in 2001 back when the All-Star format featured North America vs. The World.
2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup Champion Jonathan Drouin (Halifax) kicked off the All-Star Skills Competition by winning the fastest skater relay with a time of 13.103 seconds to help earn Team Foligno five points.
Ryan Johansen (Portland) then won the breakaway relay by a fan vote of 44.3% to push Team Foligno ahead 6-0.
Patrick Kane (London) would win the shooting accuracy competition, hitting his targets in a time of 13.529 seconds before Shea Weber (Kelowna) blasted a 108.5mph shot to win the hardest shot competition. Weber’s slapshot was the second fastest recorded speed in event history after Zdeno Chara (Prince George) hit 108.8mph three years ago.
