CHL Coaches George Burnett and Rob Sumner Named Team Canada Under-18 Assistants
Jesse Lane of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Hull Olympiques is the Canadian Hockey League Player of the Week for the week ending October 20, 2002. Each week during the 2002 – 2003 regular season the CHL will name a player of the week. The player is selected from each of the CHL’s three member leagues’ players of the week.
In three road games last week Lane scored two goals and added four assists as the Olympiques recorded wins in Chicoutimi, Rimouski and Acadie-Bathurst. A 3rd round draft pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2002 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Lane had a plus minus rating of plus three last week. In 12 games this season the native of Boston, Massachusetts has 12 points on three goals and nine assists. Lane is also a plus 12 this season.
Rookie Timofei Shishkanov of the Quebec Remparts was selected as the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Offensive Player of the Week. In three games last week the Nashville Predators’ draft pick scored four goals and added an assist.
The Western Hockey League’s Player of the Week is Boyd Gordon of the Red Deer Rebels. In three games last week Gordon scored four times and added three assists to help the Rebels extend their winning streak to seven games.
Corey Locke of the Ottawa 67’s is the Ontario Hockey League Player of the Week for the week ending October 20. Locke’s efforts, four goals and three assists, helped the 67’s to a pair of road wins last week.
Locke had a three goal one assist performance in Ottawa’s 6-2 win over the Owen Sound Attack on October 19.
