8 CHL Players Named to USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game
8 CHL players are among the 42 announced by USA Hockey who will compete in the fifth annual CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game set for September 22 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA.
The list of CHL players competing includes five from the Ontario Hockey League along with three from the Western Hockey League.
Kailer Yamamoto (Spokane Chiefs) helped the U.S. Men’s National Under-18 Team capture the bronze medal at the 2016 International Ice Hockey Federation Men’s Under-18 World Championship in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Sasha Chmelevski (Ottawa 67’s), Mark Kastelic (Calgary Hitmen), Vanya Lodnia (Erie Otters) and Austin Pratt (Red Deer Rebels) all helped the U.S. Under-18 Select Team place second at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup in Breclav, Czech Republic, and Bratislava, Slovakia this past month.
The game assembles the top U.S. players who are eligible for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. 35 players competing in the game appeared on the 2015-16 NHL Central Scouting Futures List, which highlights players that have potential to be selected in the first three rounds of the draft.
Former NHL stars Mark Howe and John LeClair were announced as coaches for the upcoming event last week.
